LAKESIDE FAMILY SERVICES

Lakeside Family Services (LFS) was established in 1993 as one of the early Family Service Centres in Singapore. Today we run 2 Family Service Centres and 2 Student Care Centres in Jurong.

LFS provide highly subsidised and quality services to underprivileged children, youths, families and elderly, regardless of race, language or religion.

At Lakeside, we see many families in distress because of multiple issues. For the past 24 years, we have journeyed with them, providing support through a multi-pronged approach, including financial assistance, counselling, children and youth developmental programmes, home and employment assistance. Last year, Lakeside journeyed with over 1,500 families, plus over 4,000 of their members and other individuals through our services.

OUR MISSION

We, at Lakeside fulfil our Christian responsibility to the society by caring for the community. We provide quality services, focused on the needs of individuals and families in the community at Jurong, regardless of race, language and religion. We work in harmony with our neighbours, the community and the government.

HOW WE IMPACT LIVES

Meeting Needs of Individuals and Families

During life crises like financial difficulties and domestic violence, individuals and families in need can turn to our social workers and counsellors for support and community resources. In 2017, we served 1,272 families.

Nurturing Our Children’s Potential

Underprivileged children reach their full potential with our quality student care services, reading intervention, arts and holiday programmes. Over 690 children were impacted last year.

Moulding Our Youths’ Future

We reached out to 1,501 youths-at-risk, guiding them to navigate life challenges, express themselves in healthy ways and develop their leadership potential.

Building Stronger Families

Low-income and vulnerable families learned life skills and better communication through family bonding activities and skills workshops.

Promoting Active Ageing

Seniors live fulfilled and dignified lives, with more than 280 seniors benefiting from weekly get-togethers, skills workshops and meaningful projects.

Helping Ex-inmates Reintegrate into Society

Through imprisonment and release, we helped 3,987 inmates and families to reconcile and maintain relationships through programmes and video-conference visits.

Supporting Problem Gamblers and Their Families

We help problem gamblers to address their gambling addiction and mend family ties.
